Rebuilding and Returning Home
Equitable Rehabilitation of the Negev
NIF’s Equality and Partnership programme promotes inclusive and equitable recovery efforts for all communities affected by October 7 and to strengthen Jewish-Arab partnership in the Negev.
The programme, primarily in the Gaza Envelope, invests in rebuilding the Negev communities, while ensuring that the often-overlooked communities among them, receive equal funding and support.
We are aware of the need for collective healing as well as honouring the diverse struggles and contributions of all Negev residents, particularly the Bedouin community who historically have been marginalised and excluded.
Our grantees, Hechalutz and the Kibbutz Movement supported the 83% of kibbutz residents who have returned to their homes and will continue to support the 9% who intend to return when able.
This year they have:
- Mapped out the needs of the kibbutzim in the Gaza border area.
- Established a new academy in Kibbutz Yad Mordecha.
- This September a new pre-military academy will open in Kibbutz Mefalsim, and new community service programmes will be launched in the surrounding kibbutzim.
We will continue to support the Kibbutzim leadership through consultancy and help them throughout their rebuilding period.
The Hostage and Missing Families Forum – NIF just allocated its fourth grant to the Forum and has supported the forum’s activities since its establishment, putting pressure on the Israeli government to negotiate a deal and bring home all of the hostages still held in Gaza.
