Part of NIF’s mission is to create a safe space for dialogue and engagement between all sections of Israeli society: religious and secular, Orthodox and Reform, Ashkenazi and Mizrachi, Jews and Arabs. We value all those that make up Israeli society and work to empower them to control their own lives, while peacefully co-existing with their neighbours.

Advocating for Arabic
In the wake of the recent violence in mixed Arab-Jewish cities, NIF grantee Sikkuy – The Association for the Advancement of Civic Equality has launched a campaign encouraging Jews to learn Arabic. The campaign, entitled “It’s also possible to do things differently,” is based on the assumption that the inability to communicate through language results in separation, unfamiliarity, alienation and fear.

Tracking and Reporting Anti-Arab Hate Groups
After seeing extremist Jewish groups organising anti-Arab violence on Whatsapp, FakeReporter, a new NIF grantee that investigates fake accounts and extremism on social media, informed police. But police ignored the warning and failed to prevent one of Israel’s worst episodes of inter-communal violence.
